Obituary of Marilyn Perkowski
WALLINGFORD - Marilyn (Warzocha) Perkowski, 87, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018. In 1951, Marilyn married her first love, Steve, and they were blessed with 40 years of happiness. In 2005, she was lucky again, finding the second love of her life, Bill Behme. She is also survived by her children, Dianne Marcantonio and her husband Ed, John and his wife Sherry, and Steven and his wife Pam, as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other beloved family and friends. They will remember her as a perky and loving matriarch who was the instigator of many food fights.
While Marilyn enjoyed being a school nurse in the Wallingford school system, she enjoyed retirement more; her favorite activities included exploring new locations, beating Bill at a game of Jeopardy, and relaxing with a puzzle and a cup of tea in P’s-full Living. One of Marilyn’s most irresistible qualities was her sense of humor, which she held on to until the end, using her illness to as an opportunity to marry off her granddaughters to her male nurses and aides.
Throughout her life, Marilyn taught her family many life lessons, such as paper towels should be washed and reused, containers in the refrigerator are not always what they appear to be, expiration dates are just suggestions, spit balls are acceptable at fancy events, and anything can be cured with a salt water soak – even a runny nose. But the most important lesson she taught her family was to go through life with a smile, a laugh, and a kind heart.
In lieu of flowers, Marilyn’s family requests that you go out and make a memory; her passion for life and love of family will always be her greatest legacy.
Marilyn’s family extends their deep appreciation to the nurses and aides of Masonic, Midstate, and Franciscans for their loving care. A funeral service for Marilyn will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, 23 South Main Street, Wallingford. Her funeral procession will leave the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home at 10:30am. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Tuesday evening, April 24th from 4-7pm.
