Obituary of Angeline "Ann" M. Platenyk

Wallingford — Angeline (Ann) Platenyk, 93, of Wallingford, departed this life on Friday, April 20, 2018, peacefully at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford.

Ann was born on October 25, 1924, in Scranton, PA, daughter of the late Salvatore DelVentura and Mary (Solombrino) Bucci. She was predeceased by her husband, George, and two brothers, Anthony and Andrew DelVentura.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for Stauffer Chemical Company, Dobbs Ferry, NY as an Administrative Assistant. During her retirement years, she volunteered as an aide in the Wallingford school system. In addition, Ann was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Wallingford where she was a trustee, taught Sunday school and participated in the Women’s Quilting and Gardening clubs. She assisted with the creation of the Memorial Gardens at the church, as well. She enjoyed gardening, decorating and dancing. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her much happiness and joy.

She will be missed by her two sons, G. Jeffrey Platenyk (Tracey) of Point Pleasant, NJ and Keith W. Platenyk (Wendy) of Wallingford, CT. and her five grandchildren, Eric (Charlotte, NC), Kyle (Boston, MA), Kendall (Raleigh, NC), Elizabeth and Matthew (both of Point Pleasant, NJ).

A memorial service will be held for relatives and friends on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 941 Old Rock Hill Rd, Wallingford.
