Obituary of Eleanor Mae Stratton
CHESHIRE - Eleanor Stratton, 85, of Cheshire, departed this life on May 22, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. She was the beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Stratton. Eleanor was born in New Haven, CT on September 5, 1932 to the late Thomas and Bridget (Cull) Sheehan. She grew up on Foster Street in New Haven and in many recent years she longed to be back there. She was a very hard worker, beginning her career in nursing at Whitney Manor in Hamden. Years later, she became their dietitian and ran their kitchen. She also worked for High Meadows in Hamden as well as Aces as a lunch lady. Eleanor enjoy the company of her friends, coworkers and family. She also enjoyed following the Red Sox, UCONN women’s basketball and watching her granddaughter Jennifer play softball.
Eleanor is survived by her two sons; Ralph Andreozzi (Diane) of Cheshire and Richard Andreozzi (Anna) of Hamden, as well as her sister, Mary Clifford of Wallingford. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her three brothers Tommy Sheehan, Jimmy Sheehan and Eddie Sheehan. Eleanor‘s final years were not easy and the countless people that helped her on her journey will never be forgotten. She now rests I the loving arms of her parents on Foster Street in heaven.
