Obituary of Kanta P. Nirmal

Wallingford - Kanta P Nirmal, 69, loving wife of the late Prahlad "Paul" Nirmal, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2018. Kanta was born in Ahmedabad, India on May 4, 1949 to the late Mulaji & Raliat Khatri.

Following the arrival of her husband to America in 1968, Kanta arrived in New York with her daughter Mayurica in her arms and her nephews Axay and Hemant by her side. The Nirmals settled in Bridgeport, CT and Kanta began studying to become a CNA. In 1970, Kanta's second child, Manish, was born. During this time, Kanta began working as a CNA in Fairfield County. A few years later the family moved to Wallingford where Kanta ended up enjoying a long career in healthcare at Masonicare.

In 1984, Kanta ventured into business ownership with the purchase of a small convenience store named J&B on the North Turnpike Road. It was here where she was lovingly called "Connie". In the summers, Kanta and Prahlad loved going to Aruba where they developed many close friendships that lasted a lifetime. Kanta was known as a friendly and loving woman that brought joy to many including her Masonicare patients and store customers.

Kanta is survived by a large family across the country and globe. More closely, Kanta is survived by her children; Mayurica Petrosky and her husband, George of Burlington, CT and Manish Nirmal and his wife Lisette of Wallingford, CT as well as her four loving grandchildren; Erik, Alisha, Julian and Gabriela and brothers Manu and Mansuk Khatri and sister Nirmala Jagged.

Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Wednesday evening, November 21, 2018, from 4-6 pm at the B.C.Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 6:00 pm. The family would prefer donations to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
