Obituary of John J. Izzo Sr.

Branford - John J. Izzo, Sr., 76, entered into eternal rest on November 25, 2018 at the CT Hospice of Branford. He was born in New Haven, CT on October 31, 1942. He is predeceased by his father Jerry Izzo and his step-mother Betty Bihary (Izzo). John raised his family in Clinton and later settled in Branford with his loving wife of 53 years, Rosalie (Torino) Izzo. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a chef and later as Military Police in Okinawa and South Carolina. He worked at Marlin Firearms in North Haven for twenty-nine years.

Besides his wife, John will be lovingly remembered by his children; John Izzo Jr., of Branford, Sandra Izzo Zuccarello (Vince) of Cos Cob, and Dan Izzo (Dale) of North Branford as well as those he was most proud of, his grandchildren; Christina Zuccarello, Cayla Zuccarello, Eric Izzo and Tanner Izzo. He will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews; Nicholas Torino of Clinton, Jacqueline Torino of East Haven, Michael, Danielle and Mara Torino and Gage Paris all of East Haven. In addition he is also survived by his brothers-in-law; John Torino (the late Patricia) and Bill Torino (Mary), whom he considered to be his brothers and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for John will take place at St Therese Church (St. John Bosco Parish), 105 Leetes Island Rd, Branford, on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Military honors will be rendered outside of the church immediately following mass. Relatives and friends may attend calling hours on Thursday evening, November 29, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the B.C.
