Obituary of Anthony J. Cascio

WALLINGFORD - Anthony (Sonny) Cascio, 86, departed this life on December 14, 2018 at The Hamden Rehabilitation Center in Hamden, Connecticut. He was the beloved husband of Joyce Ann Bessonett Cascio.

Sonny was born in Meriden, Connecticut on January 2, 1932 to the late James and Angelina Cascio. He is preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy and Vinny Cascio, and his sister Josephine Woronick.

Sonny served in the United States Army from 1950 - 1953 during the Korean War. He was assigned to the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was awarded the United States Combat Parachutist Badge. After his time in the service, Tony was a Union Drywall Taper for many years. Early in life he enjoyed hunting but as the years went on he appreciated the wildlife and often admired them from his car.

Besides his wife Joyce, Sonny is survived by his sister Nancy Gagliola; daughter Toni Ryder and Debbie, step-son Henry Bessonett and his wife Alice, step-daughter Michelle McCurtain and her husband Jim. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:30 at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd, Wallingford. Relatives and friends may attend a visitation from 9AM to 11AM on Tuesday morning at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford.
