Obituary of Barbara Lila Landow

WALLINGFORD - Barbara Lila (Cohen) Landow, 89, departed this life on December 29, 2018 at the Regency House in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of 35 years to the late Leo I. Landow. Barbara was born in New Haven,CT on March 22, 1929 to the late Maurice and Annette (Glick) Cohen. In her early years she attended and graduated Hillhouse High school and the Stone School of Business. Barbara worked in the jewelry business for many years with brief employments at Stars and Caldors, finally becoming the manager of the jewelry division of Barkers Department Store in Wallingford. She was a member of the United Order of the True Sisters of New Haven. She enjoyed going on cruises with her friends and playing bingo and Mah-Jong. Barbara was also a devoted member of the Westville Synagogue in New Haven.

Barbara is survived by her two children: Marc E. Landow and his wife Elizabeth of Wallingford and Linda (Landow) Young and her husband Gary of East Lyme. She will also be cherished in the memory of her grandchildren; Eli Landow, Lauren, Stephen and Michael Young as well as her brother Edward Cohen. She will also be greatly missed by her two cousins, Joan Pirtel and Terry Tammaro and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara is predeceased by her brothers; Sidney and Jack Cohen, her Aunt Bea (Glick) Lenehan and her dear friend of over 75 years, Marion Edelson. Barbara's family would like to thank the staff at Regency House as well as her aides, Becky and Susan for their compassionate care. 

A graveside service for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Congregation Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery, 16 Brockett Place, East Haven, CT. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with Barbara's final arrangements.
