Obituary of Dale H. Swatkins

GUILFORD - Dale Howard Swatkins, 65, departed this life suddenly on January 6, 2019 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Dale was born in Southington, CT on May 13, 1953 to the late Howard and Charlotte (Germaine) Swatkins. He grew up in Wallingford and was a member of the inaugural graduating class of 1972 at Sheehan High School. After that, Dale attended James Madison University and Quinnipiac College. Some years later, after starting his own family, he moved to Guilford where he resided for many years.

Besides his family, he had a fond love for the Connecticut shoreline. He was a member of the Guilford Lion's Club. Prior to his retirement, Dale was the owner of Advanced Components and a manufacturer's sales representative.

Dale is survived by his four loving children: Jeffrey, Brian, Melanie and Tyler Swatkins as well his former spouse, Marianne Papa. He will also be cherished in the memories of his sisters: Robin Hunter (Robert) of Durham and Pamela Swatkins of Vergennes, VT, as well as his niece and nephews: Jesse Hunter, Molly Shaw, Henry Shaw and two great-nephews.

A memorial service for Dale will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 N. Main Street, Wallingford. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Burial will be private and held at a later date. The B.C.
