Obituary of Peter Thomas Murphy

NORTH BRANFORD - Peter Murphy, 64, departed this life on February 5, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Sochor) Murphy.

Peter was born in Meriden, CT on January 2, 1955 to the late Thomas and Irene (Shaw) Murphy. Peter attended the Most Holy Trinity School, Lyman Hall High School and graduated from Cheshire Academy in 1974. He attended Maine Maritime Academy before graduating from Southamptom University with a degree in Environmental Science and Geology. He worked in the field of horticulture and landscaping for the last forty years, most recently at Summer Hill Nursery. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, Nascar and Redskins fan. He coached youth hockey and lacrosse and dedicated 25 years of coaching to the Wallingford Pop Warner football league. He was a hardworking man who loved his family, friends, and helping others.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Peter Robert, his twin sister Mary Ellen (John) Skorzewski, sisters Katherine (Bruce) Chaplin, Patricia Murphy and Mary Rodgers. He is also survived by his loving nephew, aunt and uncles.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 10 am at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery.
