Obituary of Mildred Louise Klish
WALLINGFORD - Mildred (Runge) Klish, died peacefully in Maine with her family by her side on March 11, 2017, at the age of 101 yrs. and 9 mos. She said every month counts after she turned 100.
She was born in Meriden, CT on June 20, 1915, the daughter of Richard and Mary Runge. She graduated Meriden High School and then worked at the Miller Company and New Departure in Meriden for 10 yrs. She married Joseph Klish in May 1947. They had two daughters, family was always foremost. They built their home on North Farms Road in Wallingford. This was their beloved neighborhood. She resided there for 63 yrs.
In her younger years she was active in the Ladies Guild at Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford, which she is a member of. Millie loved flowers and always had a large flower garden which many people enjoyed looking at. She enjoyed knitting and making hooked rugs. Her special love was spending time with her three grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She took her first snowmobile ride while in Maine at the age of 90 and held on for dear life. At 99 she went on her first motor home trip with her family. At 99 yrs. young she sold her house in Wallingford and moved to Maine to be closer to her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, and her brothers: Ralph Runge and Kenneth Runge. She is survived by her two daughters: Karen Wolkowski and husband Jason of CT and Dianne Broumas and husband Steve of ME, her three grandchildren: Jill Broumas, Kristin Broumas and Jeffrey Broumas and his wife Lydia.
Funeral services will be held at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street in Wallingford, CT. Family and friends may call Saturday March 18 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
