CHESHIRE - William Andrew Gallagher, Jr., 76, formerly of Durham CT, Tuxedo NY, Madrid, Spain, Troy Hills, NJ, Hauppauge, NY and Allentown, PA, departed this life on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Elim Park in Cheshire. He was the loving husband of Gail (Ramsay) Gallagher. Bill was born on July 13, 1938, in Allentown, PA, son of the late William and Catherine (Brennan) Gallagher. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his son William Andrew Gallagher, III of New York, NY, a sister, Kathleen Gutierrez of Pennsylvania and his two granddaughters, Jaya Marie and Melia Hannah Gallagher. Bill was a computer engineer. His first job after college was field engineer for the Polaris Nuclear Submarine computer system. He quickly worked his way up and ran engineering divisions for ITT, Data Products New England, and Computer Optics. Later in life he worked with his wife, Gail, to build a computer systems house called Kountry Komputers in Durham, CT to help many businesses to computerize. Bill was also an automobile racing enthusiast. In his youth he raced his Maserati at many tracks including Lime Rock and Bridgehampton speedway. Once his son was conceived, he chose to use his technical skills to help his friends win numerous races in Formula Ford, and Formula V classes. For years, there were always multiple race cars in the garage that he worked tirelessly to make ever more reliable and faster. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, April 4th at the chapel at Elim Park located at 140 Cook Hill Road in Cheshire from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Bethlehem, PA.
