Betty, I am so sorry Bill is no longer here with us here on Planet Earth, but so happy he's singing bass with Jesus, probably right now. At Trinity, we were so blessed to have you both for as long as we did. You were and are 2 very special people. Memories of sharing the altar with you, Bill anchoring the choir, will always be a special memory for me. All the best. Love flowing toward you. Jeff Kalb

Betty ~ I am so saddened to hear that Bill has left his life here. I was so blessed to have gotten to know you both while you lived in Sandwich, and we attended St. John's together. I loved listening to Bill's beautiful voice sing, and yours preaching.
Please know how much you are both loved and missed here on the Cape.
I have missed you both dearly and pray that your beautiful memories will help you daily.
Fly with the angels Bill! I hope to be able to talk to you soon Betty ~ I miss you. xo

Dear Betty and the Long Family,
I know Bill loved the water. We chatted at Epiphany about going out in Boston Harbor. I find the following writing by Bishop Brent a comforting sentiment for those like my dad who were sea going loved ones. I will not be able to join the celebration of Bills life this Saturday, but will be with you in spirit.
"What is dying? I am standing on the seashore. A ship sails to the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon, and someone at my side says, "She is gone." Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all; she is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when I saw her, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination.
The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her; and just at the moment when someone at my side says, "She is gone," there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up the glad shout, "There she comes!"--and that is dying. ~ Bishop Brent"
May God be with you, Katy Forline

We were shocked and saddened by the news of Bill's passing. He was indeed a true and gracious gentleman. I still vividly remember all those times we had choir practice together at Trinity. He will truly be missed.

Dear Rev. Betty,
It is with heavy heart that I read of your beloved Bill's passing into Spirit. I have known of others who translated while in a garden setting, and for a citizen of Earth, I think that is a most beautiful way to make one's exit back to the Father.
I so remember Bill as a gracious gentleman and vibrant member of the Trinity Episcopal Church's choir. Please know that I will be thinking of you and praying for your peace in the coming time. I know he will watch over you and the family from Spirit. Be of great courage and go forward, knowing that you have help from on high.
With love and all good wishes for a lovely and interesting future,
Elaine Brouillette

I'm so sorry for your loss! I will always remember our after church Sundays, Julie: climbing trees, neighborhood hide & seek or some version of tag (tv tag, freeze tag, hospital tag), playing board games in your room. Walking to Rollie's, stopping by Mrs. Nelson's house and matinees at the Route 3 Cinema. Columbus Day weekends at your house while my parents took their annual weekend away. Billy (I think) eating dog biscuits out of the cookie jar on the counter and insisting they were good - might have been Julie, but it was one of you and it was gross! lol
Through all of those happy memories, both your Dad and Mom were right there with us, sharing their home with kind words and a warm smile. I spent a lot of time at your house and hanging with you as my "church friends", aka family. Your Dad was a wonderful man and I am lucky to have known him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Even though I haven't seen you in (too many) years, I know that his spirit will shine on through each one of you.:skin-tone-3:
