Obituary of Robert L. Olesen
WALLINGFORD - Robert L. Olesen died Wednesday evening, February 4th at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. Bob was born in New Haven on July 27, 1940, the son of the late John and Esther (Sorensen) Olesen.
For 22 years Bob was employed by IBM, Hamden, as a customer engineer and then as a systems analyst in the IT departments at Canberra Industries, Meriden and at NSI, Naugatuck. After retirement he worked part time for 6 years at Southern CT State University in the Audio Visual High Tech (AVHT) department where he so enjoyed helping and working with students and professors.
Bob was an active and devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wallingford where he served as webmaster of the church's website. In previous years he served on the vestry, sang in the church choir and happily assisted in various capacities at church services, or wherever else he might be needed. For the last year and a half he was an active member of the Wallingford Democratic Town Committee, and he has also served as Chairman of the Forth District.
Bob was happily married for forty years to his wife Lois (Bergelin) Olesen. He is also survived by his daughters: Lisa (Sean) Slain of Wallingford and Anna O'Malley of Jacksonville, FL; and son, Daniel of Marlborough, MA. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Edward and Dody Olesen of San Antonio, TX and a sister Marion White of San Diego, CA.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 12th at 7:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wallingford. Interment in the St. Paul's Memorial Garden will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Garden of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 N. Main St., Wallingford, CT. The B.C.
