WALLINGFORD - Helen Jakiela Jordan, 94, departed this life on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at home. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph M. (Ticker) Jordan.
Helen was born on March 20, 1920, in Southington, CT, daughter of Charles and Antonia (Liro) Jakiela. She and her family moved to Wallingford when she was 8 years old where they grew up and raised their families.
She worked at Lyman Hall High School over the course of 30 years, starting out as a hall monitor outside the cafeteria, moving on to the principal's office where she worked until her retirement only a few years ago. She made many wonderful friends while working there and loved when kids recognized her outside of school. She had been a member of Most Holy Trinity Church for many years and enjoyed spending time at the annual bazaar.
Helen loved the beach and to travel. Every summer she spent time with her family at Wildwood Beach, NJ and one of her favorite memories was a cross country bus trip across the United States with her daughter. She talked about that trip and all the sights for many years.
