Carol "Petie" Hutchinson, 86, departed this life on February 21, 2017 at Water's Edge Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late William "Hutch" Hutchinson. Petie was born in Meriden on January 12, 1931 to the late Olaf and Jessie (Moses) Petersen. She loved knitting and crocheting and had been involved with the Wallingford Tercentenary celebration. She was a great lover of dogs and enjoyed cooking and baking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, and would often do so at her former cottage in Old Saybrook. Petie is survived by her children: Susan Thiel and her husband Mark of MD, Tom Hutchinson of Wallingford, Sarah Rogers and her husband Bruce of Wallingford, William Hutchinson and his wife Meredith of Wallingford and Andrew Hutchinson of Meriden; 14 grandchildren, Jessie, Kevin, Murphy, Alyson, Craig, Shelby, Cavan, Kylie, Bailey, William, Casey, Ashley, and Jacob; 7 great grandchildren: Sophia, Kali, Kennedy, Shea, Colton, Bradley and Brody. Petie is preceded in death by one grandson, Derek. The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 12:00 -2:00 PM. A celebration of her life will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial at the In Memoriam Cemetery will be private. It is suggested that contributions in her memory be directed to the Wallingford Public Library, 200 N. Main St., Wallingford, CT 06492. The B.C.
