How saddened I was to learn of the passing of Kevin. Growing up being a close friend to his oldest brother, I always looked at both he and Brian as my surrogate little brothers. Mike, Kevin and I spent some quality time together in the Appell family household in the little room at the top of the stairs. Kevin was always so laid back and seamlessly fit in. To this day I still remember him coaching me as I rowed the small boat around in circles on our fishing trip at their at their family place in Maine (I still haven't mastered it). The Kevin I knew was always a kind and compassionate soul. He will be missed. Take it easy - Pete Wrona

I am completely heartbroken to hear about my little buddy Kevin! I spent a great deal of time with Kevin teaching and coaching him in high school to be the record breaking housy and state champ and school record breaking pole vaulter! Kevin was truly one of the most genuine, true , kind hearted souls I've ever met!. He was naturally "cool" and I adored him. I am honored that I was his friend.
