Letter to Mom—February 20, 2017
Dear Mom,
You have left this world to enter a new one…a place you will make better
with your presence as you had done on this one. Yes, you will be missed
and there will be a part of us that you will take with you on your journey, but
the guidance and love you have shown us will ease the pain of your
departure.
You were everything to us…a nurse, a teacher, a confidante, a shoulder to
cry on, a friend, a blessing, an aunt, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-
grandmother. You went by many names: Aunt Fran, Ma, Mom, Mommy,
Grandma, Granny Franny, and GG, but they added up to one thing—a
special lady.
We all have our memories of you, good times and bad ones, that made us
laugh, cry, or get mad. The time we were able to spend together seem that
much more precious now. You never failed to send a card for a
birthday—seems like a small thing in the age of the internet but it made us
feel special and not forgotten.
Mom, you were a truly amazing, strong, courageous, warm woman having
to deal with the things you had to in your lifetime. Little did you realize that
when you met the love of your life so many years ago that the events your
future had in store for you would be so challenging, but you met that
adversity head on and kept going, inspiring those you leave behind to do
the same in your honor and pass it on to future generations with your spirit.
We love you Mom, and we know there's a special place in heaven for you.
Say hello to Dad and Donna and the rest of the family as you pull a chair
up to the table for a game of 31 and tell them, please, they are missed also,
and all your memories are cherished.
Love,
Your family and friends
