Obituary of Rosa Cassala Carabetta
WALLINGFORD - Rosa Cassala Carabetta - 81, of Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Domenico G. Carabetta, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. What a difference one life has made...
Rosa was born on March 28, 1933 in Grotteria, Reggio Calabria, Italy, daughter of the late Gottardo Salvatore Cassala and Teresa Papaluca. Rosa was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She had a heart of gold for her neighbors, friends, and extended family. Anyone that met Rosa will always remember her warmth and radiant smile. Her love for God and the Church was present in her everyday life.
She was a seamstress at Elise Dress Company in Meriden for many years. Rosa loved tending to her garden and making delicious sauces, soups, and all the Italian food.
Rosa will be sadly missed by her daughters: Josephine Brzozowski and her husband David of Wallingford, and Maria Dreissen and her husband Gary of Wallingford. Two brothers: Raffaele Cassala and his wife Rosa of Meriden, Salvatore Cassala and his wife Maria of Milan, Italy. One sister, Vincenzina Letteri of Grotteria, Reggio Calabria, Italy along with two sister-in-laws: Vincenzina Montevideo of Nile, OH, and Rosa Papaluca of Grotteria, Cambruso, Italy. Rosa also leaves her five beloved grandchildren: Alex, David, and Daniel Dreissen and Christina and Dominic Brzozowski. She also leaves her niece, Maria Volo and a nephew Antonio Cassala both of Meriden, and three cousins: Teresa Panetta of Lincoln, MA, Maria Fazzolari of Meriden, Franco Papaluca of Sydney, Australia, and Franco Papaluca of Meriden. Rosa also leaves numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the world. Friends are a special part of anyone's life and Rosa leaves: Antonia Pittito, Ida D'Agostino, Maria Geremia, Rosa Agostino, Angela Galati, and her neighbor Sue White. She is preceded in death her brothers: Giuseppe Cassala, Francesco Cassala, Carmelo Cassala, and a sister, Matilda Cassala, along with two brothers-in-law: Salvatore Letteri and Philip Montevideo and a sister-in-law, Peppina Gaglioti.
Rosa's family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Masonicare and Masonicare Home Health & Hospice for their wonderful care and concern. A special thanks to Sophie Cox and Joan Brown for their love and compassion.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, September 8th from 8:30 - 10:30 AM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral procession will then leave the funeral home for SS. Peter and Paul's Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM.
