Obituary of Margaret Kassay

WALLINGFORD - Margaret Reid Kassay, 90, of Wallingford, concluded her long and blessed life surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Marge was born on January 4, 1924 in Fairfield, CT, daughter of the late Thomas and Jean Thomson. She worked at the Yale Motor Inn and was an inspector at International Silver in Wallingford for over 25 years. After her retirement, Marge enjoyed long road trips, making apple turnovers and potato pancakes, traveling to the shore, as well as trips to the casinos. Her most cherished joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children: Jean Little of Wallingford, and Donald Kassay of N.C.; her sister, Christine Snelgrove of Fairfield; grandson: Fred Little and his wife Brandi; granddaughter: Tammy Little; great grandchildren: Grace and Freddie Little, and Michael and Candace Berdnik; many nieces and nephews; and special friend Carol Puopolo. She is preceded in death by her brothers: Samuel (David) Thomson and Thomas Thomson Jr., a sister: Florence Killion, and a granddaughter: Jeanie Kassay; and her brother-in-law: Hubert Snelgrove. There will be a memorial service held in her honor at the First Congregational Church, 23 S. Main St. in Wallingford, on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations in Marge's honor may be directed to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, PO Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005, or National Parkinson Foundation Gift Processing Center PO Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018. The family extends a special thanks to caregivers: Dr. Petruziello, Dr. Wiske, Beth Hartford, Tammy Casson, Peggy Phillips, Myrna Gagne, Wendy McKay, and Bee Erickson, as well as Charlotte Hyatt, Darlene Kirychuk, and the staffs of Gaylord Hospital, Masonic Healthcare Center and Yale-New Haven Hospital for all of their wonderful and devoted care to Marge.
