Obituary of Milagros Montano
MERIDEN - Milagros (Gari) Montano, 96, of Meriden, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Juan Montano for 66 years.
Milagros was born in Cuba on August 4, 1920. She worked as a seamstress for many years at several dress shops in the Naugatuck Valley. She also worked closely with her beloved husband at Griffin Hospital in Derby. One of her life's pleasures was cooking for those that she loved, especially her Cuban cuisine.
She will be missed by her son, Jesus Lazaro Montano and his wife Debra of Southington; her daughter Ana Abbagnaro and her husband Peter of Wallingford; her grandchildren: Mindy Bennett and her husband Christopher of Southington, Danielle Kearney and her husband Sean of Southington, David Montano and his wife Sarah of South Windsor, Amanda Gratton and her husband Patrick of Wallingford, and Steven Abbagnaro and his wife Gianna of Durham; as well as her great grandsons: Liam and Jackson Bennett, and Henry and Hudson Gratton. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St. in Wallingford. The funeral cortege will leave at 10:30 AM for Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in her honor at 11:00 AM. Entombment will immediately follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery mausoleum in Meriden.
