Obituary of Regina Lucille Svendsen

WALLINGFORD - Regina (Curran) Svendsen, 95, of Wallingford, departed this life on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Mid-State Medical Center. Regina was born on November 6, 1918 in New Haven, CT daughter of the late John and Ella (Walsh) Curran. She retired as the Secretary of the Editor for the Columbia Magazine published by the Knights of Columbus. Regina was very honored to assist in the planning and development of the Southbury Training School. She also served on the development committee for the Wallingford Public Library, the Wallingford Committee for the Connecticut Tercentenary, and also as a Juror Commissioner for the Town of Wallingford, along with numerous other civic involvements. She will be sadly missed by her son: Jon Peter Svendsen and his wife Vicki of Wallingford, and her grandchildren: Derek and Tara Svendsen both of Wallingford. She is preceded in death by her sons: Jeffrey, Paul, and David Svendsen, her brother, Frank Curran, and her sisters: Rose Francis and Helen Nield. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, April 9th from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 1 PM with Fr. John Georgia of the Church of the Resurrection officiating. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
