HAMDEN - William Patrick Mooney, Sr. (Bill), 87, of Hamden, CT passed away on December 14, 2013 in Branford., of natural causes. Born on September 16, 1926 in New Haven to Mary (Cuskelly) and Francis Mooney, and was pre-deceased by brothers Francis and John Mooney. Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Roberta (Flynn) Mooney also of Hamden. He retired in 1981 after 30 years with the Atlantic Richfield Oil Co. as a dispatcher. He was a Navy veteran of both WW II and the Korean War. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and loved to golf. A gentle soul with a dry sense of humor, he will be missed by all in his family, but remain in our thoughts and hearts. Aside from his wife, he is survived by his children William (Lori Martin) Mooney Jr., of New Haven, Kathleen (Michael) Leonard of Tucson, AZ, Anne Giulietti of Madison, and Francis (Renee) Mooney of Hamden. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and his dear friend and golfing partner, Roger Simonello. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, December 18th from 9 - 11 AM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. A Memorial service will follow the calling hours at 11 AM in the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
