Obituary of Caroline M. Scanlon
MERIDEN - Caroline Munzner Scanlon, 80, formerly of Essex Court, died November 5, 2013 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Southington. She was the former wife of the late Richard J. Scanlon.
She was born in New Haven, August 19, 1933 to the late Clarence & Elsie Schoor Munzner.
Caroline was supervisor of phlebotomy at the former Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, West Campus for over twenty years and upon retiring from that position she became a phlebotomist for Dr. Benjamin Kahn's office in Meriden. She was a past president of the Elm City Kennel Club, was on the Board of Directors at Sterling Village in Meriden and was a former member of the Guilford Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, Edward M. Scanlon of Northport, FL; two daughters: Kathleen A. Dempster and her husband David of Wallingford and Joyce F. Scanlon and her husband Steven Hettrick of Middlefield; two sisters: Dolores Belevich and Priscilla Rice both of Arizona; four grandchildren: David Dempster, Kelly Miller, Kelsi Londa, and Kaiden Hettrick; and five great grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Kyle and Liam Dempster, and Gavin and Bryce Miller. She was predeceased by her son Richard C. Scanlon and her brother, George Munzner.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 11th at 10:30 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St. Burial in the Beaverdale Memorial Park will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, November 10th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of the Alzheimer's Resource Center for their loving care to Caroline.
