Emily B. Smith, 86, of Meriden, departed this life on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the loving wife of the late William R. Smith. Emily was born on February 1, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Blahah and Emily (Mishalany) Belehrad. Prior to her retirement, she and her husband had operated Modern Press. In later years she enjoyed her work at the Meriden Library. She had been a member of the Sleeping Giant Womens Golf League and was the past president of the Wallingford chapter of the Business and Professional Womens Club. She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Vivian Sheehan and her husband William of Meriden; her sons: William Smith and his wife Dorothy of Torrington; Stephen Smith and his wife Elizabeth of Chesire; and David Smith of Meriden; grandchildren: Matthew, Justin, Andrew, Carolyn, and Bryan. She is preceded in death by her Sister: Adele Wojan. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, July 26, 2013 at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. A memorial service follow directly. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery will be private.
