WALLINGFORD - Roy R. Riley, 81, of Wallingford, beloved husband of the late Barbara Riley, departed this life on Saturday, February 23, 2013 peacefully with his family by his side at hospice in North Carolina. Roy was born on February 24, 1931 in New Haven son of the late Roy R. Riley Sr. and Ethel H. Carl. He retired after 26 years of dedicated service as a Detective at Yale University. He also obtained his degree of Criminology from the University of New Haven. He was a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. In his spare time he enjoyed visiting his family in Florida and was an avid New York Mets fan. He is survived by his son: Roy R. Riley Jr. of FL, and his granddaughter, Shannon Riley and her fiance' Klas Eliason of FL and a great grandson, Sebastian Riley of FL. He also leaves his step-son Earl M. Atkinson of Wallingford and a grandson, Taylor W. Kroeber along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Kenneth and Bruce Riley, and his sisters: Mildred Lindequest, Phyllis Crutchfield, and Janet Blough. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 1st at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Interment will be private.
