Dear 2nd Cousins and Uncle Bill,
I have been where you are now going; I'm still travelling this road, but am a bit further ahead. Perhaps it will help to know that I've learned that my grief is cloaked in other emotions like anxiety or fear of death or irritability. It helps me to recognize the true emotion and to name it as grief. Also, grief seems to stir up relationship issues that pre-existed, so the best you can, give your loved ones a little more leeway. Did I spell leeway correctly?
It also helped me to ask God to tell my mom some things for me. For a time, I think he actually did pass on the messages because I felt peace. There did come a time however, in which I had to trust that all was settled and that I could be assured she knew of my love and regrets.
One other thing; I feel God gave me a surrogate mom to give me the motherly affection I needed. I think I am a surrogate daughter whom she also needed. Look around for one or more such blessings to ease your grief. It's in both the giving and the receiving of this affection that my grief is eased, so be sure to give as well as receive.
Today I realized your mom and my mom are probably sharing memories of us and of Thanksgivings past, Isn't that a nice thought? I like to think my mom greeted your mom at the gates of heaven and welcomed her in.
Laura and Linda, I know you have walked this road with other loved ones, so I know I could learn a lot from you. I welcome any gems of wisdom.

So many happy memories of your mom when we spent family time together in Wallingford and Woodstock.
