WALLINGFORD - Henry O. Aldrich, 85, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Viola (Toth) Aldrich, departed this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Regency House in Wallingford. Henry was born on November 11, 1927, in Bessemer, AL son of the late Cliff and Bessie (Campbell) Aldrich. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during World War II. Following his Naval service he relocated to Wallingford and married Viola Toth at the Hungarian Baptist Church by Rev. Michael Biro in 1949. Until his retirement he worked as an Industrial Mechanic at American Cyanamid (Cytec) and while there he was a Captain in the Fire Brigade. He was a Mason and member of Compass Lodge #9, and a member and former Trustee of the First Baptist Church in Wallingford. In his spare time he was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Henry also enjoyed playing golf. In the course of his lifetime he donated over 200 pints of blood to the American Red Cross. His greatest legacy was that of a loving Husband, Father, Grandpa, G.G. Pa and Friend. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years Viola, along with four children: Richard and his wife Eunice of MA, Robert (Bob) and his wife Leigh of CA, William and his wife Carol of RI, and Peter and his wife Dawn of Wallingford. Henry also leaves three sisters: Clevie England, Sadie Aldrich, and Helen Horton and her husband Bill of AL. He leaves 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by five brothers: Clifford, Virgil, Herschel, Douglas, and Donald. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, January 10th from 4 - 7 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Wallingford. Interment will be private at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 114 N. Main Street, Wallingford, CT 06492, or you may donate a pint of blood in his honor to the American Red Cross.
