NORTH HAVEN - Ward E. Butts Jr., 78, beloved husband of Jean (Rogers) Butts, departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 3, 2013. Ward was born on May 3, 1934 in Cobleskill, NY, son of the late Ward E. Butts Sr. and Ruth (Keyser) Butts. He was a Master Carpenter and loved wood working. In his spare time he enjoyed wood carving and boat building. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and boater. He also enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, and spending time in his pool. He is most remembered as a loving family man. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years Jean Butts of North Haven. He also leaves his children: Ward Butts III and Christa Abilgaard of Rutland, VT, Gloria Nieves and her husband Miquel of North Haven, and John Butts and his wife Donna of Wallingford. He also leaves two sisters: Elizabeth Blanchette and her late husband Ed of Meriden, and Arlene Aria of NV. He also leaves 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, January 6th from 3 - 5 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 7th at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
