WALLINGFORD - Victor "Trader Vic" Babich, Sr., 83, departed this life on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the loving husband of Sophie (Nachajska) Babich. He was born in Wallingford on July 22, 1929, a son of the late Alexander and Pauline (Kozlowski) Babich. Victor was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he had run Wallingford Catering and was the well known proprietor of several local establishments. He had been a member of the American Legion, the Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus, the Polish National Alliance, and the Moose Lodge. He was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church of Wallingford. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his sons: Stephen Babich and his fiancé Donna Schwartz of Wallingford, and Victor Babich, Jr. and his wife Donna of Wallingford; and his grandchildren: Stephen, Jr., Josh and Victoria Babich, and Tory Davis. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Skyview Nursing Home in Wallingford for all of their kindness and care towards Victor while he was in their care. Funeral services will private. There are no calling hours. Burial with military honors will be private at the In Memoriam Cemetery. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with the arrangements.
