WALLINGFORD - Maria M. Fernandes, 93, of Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Americo Fernandes, Sr., departed this life on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Hartford Hospital. Maria was born on March 6, 1919 in Ludlow, MA daughter of the late Jose and Carmina (Nazare) Martins. In her spare time she was an avid crafter known for the many items she made by hand. She was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Geremia and her husband Roger of Wallingford and her son Americo Fernandes, Jr. of Wallingford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death her sister, Celeste Costa and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Fernandes. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, November 29th from 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling hours at 10:30 AM at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Wallingford.
