MIDDLEFIELD - George Robert Pogmore, 89, departed this life on November 5, 2016 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Williams) Pogmore. George was born in Wallingford on September 14, 1927 to the late Frederick and Anna (Sitnick) Pogmore. George owned and operated Pogmore's Farm in Middlefield. A sheet metal worker, he was member of Sheet Metal Local 40 for nearly 70 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He had been employed by Daly's Roofing Company and later GR Cummings before retiring at 62. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children: George Jr. (and Diane) of Colorado, Sherry (Pogmore) Meyers, Karen Pogmore and Linda McBride (and Ed) all of North Carolina; grandchildren: Erik and Travis Pogmore, Brian and Riki Meyers, Vicki Radcliffe, Jessie Gilmore and Jaimie Smith; and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 10th from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St, Wallingford. A service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM.
