BRISTOL - Donald Firmin Pethybridge, 95, formerly of Shetland Dr. in Wallingford, died October 11, 2012. He was born July 9, 1917 in Leominster, MA, the son of the late Clarence Edward and Marion Firmin Pethybridge. He lived in and graduated from Fitchburg, MA schools and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford where he served as usher, deacon, trustee and moderator for many years. He worked as a chemist for the Hudson Worsted Co., Hudson, MA, Great American Plastics, Fitchburg, MA, Reed Plastics, Worcester, MA and for 32 years as a chemist and plant manager for Multiplastics in Wallingford. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, Society of Plastic Engineers, and the CT Society of Geneologists. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley C. Pethybridge and a brother Arthur E. Pethybridge. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Donna and Bill Katsaounis of Bristol; a son and daughter-in-law David C. and Karen Pethybridge of Surf City, NJ; four grandchildren: Stephen and Mark Katsaounis, and Kelsey and Sean Pethybridge; one great granddaughter, Abigail Katsaounis; and a nephew Richard Pethybridge. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM.
