MERIDEN - Dorothy E. (Stromberg) Heitz, 88, of Meriden, and formerly of Ocala, FL peacefully departed this life on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Coccomo Health Care Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late David E. Heitz. Dorothy was born on February 27, 1924 in Manchester, NH daughter of the late Carl and Signe (Hogland) Stromberg. She was office manager at Smith Corona in Woodbridge until her retirement. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling with her husband, knitting and was active in her church communities. She will be sadly missed by her children: Signe Olivieri of Hamden, David Heitz and his wife Phyllis of TN, and Audrey Schiller and her husband William of Vernon. She also leaves five grandchildren: Karl, Kurt, Kirsten, Alison, and Christie. She is preceded in death by a brother Harold Stromberg. A funeral service will be led by Pastor Robert Hass on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 235 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford. Interment will follow at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. It is suggested that memorial contributions in her name be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
