Obituary of David Wayne Andrews
WALLINGFORD - David Wayne Andrews, "Moose," passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 after a courageous three year battle with cancer.
He was born February 18, 1957 in Germany.
He was a small business owner and most recently operated Pitt Stop Power Equipment of Wallingford. He was a talented mechanic, who at a young age was taking vintage cars apart and rebuilding them. His last project was a '69 Dodge Coronet, but his restoration projects included a '35 Chevy sedan, '55 Chevy, '62 Ford Falcon, '64 GTO and a Mustang.
He graduated from North Branford High School and achieved Life Scout in the Boy Scouts. After high school he attended small engine mechanics school. He bought Fioris Hardware in Northford and operated that business along with doing small engine repair. He drove Peterbuilt trucks cross country for several years and started a Mobil oil change business that evolved into Pitt Stop.
He inherited his love of springer spaniels from his maternal grandfather sharing 25 years of companionship between his two dogs, Bridgette and Kayde.
He is survived by his parents, David and Lynn Andrews of Fenwick Island, DE. His siblings; Dana (Robert) Guggino of Sanibel, FL, Jeff (Lynn) Andrews of Wallingford, Lori Andrews of Wilmington, VT and Gail (Walter) Hunter of North Bend, OR. His nieces and nephews; Kathryn and Daniel Guggino, Wesley, Colton and Ellery Andrews, Jason and Jon Solinski, and Kristopher and Liko Hunter.
B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with arrangements. There will be no funeral services per his request. His ashes and those of his beloved dogs will be scattered at a later date. The family asks that donations in his honor be made to Vitas Hospice, 199 Park Road Ext., Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06492.
