WALLINGFORD - Alberta (Bert) Braveman Subkowsky, wife of the late Harry Subkowsky of Ashlar Village, died July 27, 2012 at the Masonic Healthcare Center. Born in Albany, NY September 20, 1927 she was the only daughter of the late Leo and Ethel Cohen Braveman. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Charles Braveman. Mrs. Subkowsky attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She was a past president of Beth Israel Sisterhood and a past secretary and financial secretary of Beth Israel Synagogue. She also was a member and past secretary of the Wallingford Garden Club. For 6 years she was in charge of the Wallingford Public Library gift shop and served as the volunteer for many library activities. She also served as a volunteer at the Masonic Health Center and at Ashlar Village. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Elizabeth Subkowsky of Chicago, IL, and her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Gary Schaer of Passaic, NJ. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jonathan Schaer (Lee), Jessica Leiblich (Gill), and Emma Schaer. In accordance with Jewish tradition, graveside services were held on Friday, July 27th at the In Memoriam Cemetery. If desired, gifts in her memory may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O.
