Obituary of Walter P. Sawallich
WALLINGFORD - Walter P. Sawallich Jr., 60, of Wallingford, beloved companion of Susan (Peters) Haag, departed this life as the result of an accident, on Monday, July 23, 2012.
Walt was born on December 22, 1951 in New Haven, CT, son of the late Walter and Lauretta (Wetmore) Sawallich. He owned and operated J.R.'s Hauling in Wallingford. He was employed by Tayco, Artic Trucking, and Tony's Trucking. Walt was a former Cub Scout Leader and a board member of the Wallingford Recycling Committee. In his spare time he was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed model railroading. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford. He also enjoyed the camper he shared with Susan in New Hampshire.
He will be sadly missed by his loving companion Susan Haag of Wallingford and his three children: Tonia Sawallich of Wallingford, Christopher Sawallich of Portland, CT, and Melissa Sawallich of Wallingford. He also leaves eight beloved step-children: Lee, Wayne, Kym, Heidi, Bruce, Jason, Melissa and Kevin. He leaves his Aunt Gladys Griffith of Wallingford, along with a brother, Wayde Sawallich of NH, and a sister, Wendy Worcester of ME. He also leaves 12 step-grandchildren along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, July 27th from 4 - 7 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford. Those attending the funeral are asked to meet directly at church.
