Obituary of David L. Stearns

WALLINGFORD - David L. Stearns, 70, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Patricia (Smith) Stearns, departed this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Meriden Center, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Dave was born on June 15, 1942 in Stony Creek, CT son of the late Mildred (Hendrickson) Stearns. He was a graduate of Branford High School Class of 1960. He later obtained his degree from Quinnipiac College. He began his career as a District Manager at National Cash Register in White Plains, NY. Later in life he and his wife began Clean Sweep and successfully ran the business in Wallingford for 15 years. As a father and coach he was actively involved for many years in Wallingford youth sports. He and Pat are longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Wallingford. Dave will be remembered most as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Patricia Stearns of Wallingford, and four sons: David L. Stearns Jr., and his wife Ginger of Short Hills, NJ, Eric J. Stearns and his wife Celeste of Cromwell, CT, Mark A. Stearns and his wife Mimi of Hampton Roads, VA, and Philip H. Stearns and his wife Leona of San Diego, CA. He also leaves 11 beloved grandchildren: Lindsay, Maddie, Kaitlin, Will, Jocelyn, Ava, Henry, Antonio, Jared, Justin, and Kaylee. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Ingersoll and her husband Wayne of NC. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, July 14th from 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM at the First Baptist Church of Wallingford. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 AM in the Church. Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
