Obituary of Frederick Taylor
Frederick Taylor, avid outdoorsman, Naval veteran, and local Boy Scout troop founder, died peacefully at home Sunday May 27th, ending a long battle with cancer. He was 84 years old.
A Wallingford native, Fred self proclaimed that he was closest to God when spending time at "his chapel amongst the woods" in Bradford, VT. He served aboard the USS Shenandoah and USS Yosemite between 1946 - 48. Returning home, he worked at a local bakery until becoming a machinist at Allegheny Ludlum. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0073 and VFW Post 591. In 1968, he founded Boy Scout Troop 47 at Pond Hill Elementary School.
If not casting a line at one of his favorite spots, he could be found teeing off at any one
of the local golf courses. His easy nature and endearing smile made him an instant
friend of many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ethel (Micki) Taylor; children: Shelley Taylor-Boyd, (Chip Boyd), Lori Taylor, and James F Taylor, (Brian Kuerze); and grandchildren: Lauren Taylor Kiss, (Jaime Skiba Kiss), and Lucian Boyd.
We will miss you, Dad, and in the years to come shall never forget the love and pride
you shared with us all - "Who's better than us?"
