Obituary of Elizabeth C. Christman
WALLINGFORD - Elizabeth Copeland Christman, beloved wife of Milton B. Christman, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2012 at the Masonic Healthcare Center.
She was born in Waterford, CT, July 17, 1923 to Helen Minor Copeland and William Everett Copeland.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Betty Ann and Bill Robidoux of Sebastian, FL and Old Orchard Beach, ME. And a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Pamela Christman of Chester, CT, five grandchildren, Lynne Webber, Steven Robidoux, Pamela Tattersall, Jason Christman and Courtney Christman and six great grandchildren.
She was predeceased in death by eight siblings: Helen Copeland, Charles Copeland, Clarence Copeland, John Copeland, Willis Copeland, Raymond Copeland, Marion Colburn and Barbara Stark. Survivors include Harry Copeland, William Copeland and Flora Vendetti and many nieces and nephews.
Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her large and loving family.
Her early career began at Seamless Rubber Company in New Haven and in the payroll department of Pratt-Whitney in North Haven. She worked her way from a secretarial position of Boardman Silversmith, in Wallingford, to a corporate vice-president.
She was a life-long member of St. John's the Evangelist Church in Yalesville, CT. Along with her husband, Milt, they were very active in the Mizpah Chapter #37, Order of Eastern Star, in Wallingford, CT where she was a past matron. She was also an active volunteer at the Masonic Home.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. John's the Evangelist Church, 360 Church Street, Yalesville, CT 06492 or the Eastern Star Charity Foundation, 65 Masonic Avenue, Wallingford, CT 06492. The B. C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with arrangements.
