MERIDEN - Antonio M. Silvia, 83, of Meriden, beloved husband of Barbara (Borghi) Silvia, departed this life on Monday, January 16, 2012 at his residence with his wife at his side. Antonio was born on June 10, 1928, in Bristol, RI son of the late Antonio and Maria (Souza) Silva. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. He was employed for more than 25 years with the Town of Wallingford's Department of Public Works. He was a member of the American Legion, Portuegese American Club and was a Mason. In his spare time he enjoyed clamming with his children and vacationing with his family. He also enjoyed solving both cross-word and jigsaw puzzles. He will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara of Meriden, his five children: Elaine Silvia-White of Wallingford, Anthony Silvia of TX, Michael Silvia of Meriden, David Silvia and his wife Patricia of Meriden, and Mark Silvia and his fiance' Lisa of Marlboro. He also leaves six grandchildren: Shaylyn, Lindsey, David, Pasquale, Nathan and Paul, along with two great grandchildren: Ricky and Alijah, in addition to a cousin Vincent Thomas of Branford. He is preceded in death by two brothers: Amilcar Silva and Joseph Martin, and two sisters: Elizabeth Silva and Bella McGuire. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10:00 am in the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. Interment will be in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
