Obituary of Mary Pella
WALLINGFORD - Mary (Williams) Pella, 82, of Wallingford entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of the late Woodrow Pella.
Mary was born in New Haven on July 24, 1929, a daughter of the late Fred P. and Cornelia (Andrews) Williams.
Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by SNET. She was a veteran of the U.S. armed forces. She was one of the first women from New Haven enlist in the Air Force where she served as a meteorologist.
She will be sadly missed by her sons: Carl Pella and his wife Claudia of Wallingford, Paul Pella of North Carolina; her daughter, Beth Pella of New London; a brother, Frank Williams of Vermont; her grandchildren Joe Pella and Michael Hatt. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Williams and her sister Martha Burrows.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 27th from 4:00 - 6:45 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service led by Mary's nephew and Godson, Fr. John Williams of the Church of the Epiphany in Cheshire will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM. Private burial with military honors will take place at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. It is suggested that contributions in her memory be made to the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans, 75-20 Astoria Blvd., Jackson Heights, NY 11370 or the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, 405 Allen Ave., Meriden, CT 06451-3607.
