Obituary of Joseph Vincent Depauw
WALLINGFORD - Joseph Vincent Depauw age 61 of Wallingford, CT passed on quietly Saturday, October 22, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. At his side was his love and friend of 30 years Sharon W. Robinson also of Wallingford, CT who will miss him immensely.
Joseph was the son of Vincent Joseph Depauw and Barbara Dugan Depauw of Somerville, MA. He served in the Army Reserves after graduating from Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston, MA. Later he was an employee of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, No. Haven and East Hartford for 33 years until retiring in October 2006 due to illness.
He is survived by his mother Barbara Dugan Depauw of Somerville, MA, his son Joseph Vincent Depauw II, his grandchildren Jake Joseph Depauw of Derry, NH; Jared Joseph Depauw and Alexa Abigail Depauw of Mexico. He is survived by his "adopted" mother Rose "Dolly" Donnelly of Haverhill, MA. He also leaves behind his first wife Anita Depauw of Rockland, MA, her daughter Diana Depauw of Brockton, MA, and Diana's children that Joseph thought of as his own grandchildren: Devin Jaymes Depauw, Dean Chandler Depauw, Dejalyn Clara Depauw and Domenick J. V. Depauw all of Rockland, MA. Also, he is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Backpacking was an exciting part of his life and he made a trip annually with fellow backpackers, which included Manfried "Chip" Verch of Wallingford, CT, until he was no longer able to due to his health. He also spent many years on weeklong hunting trips to Pennsylvania and fishing /camping trips with his best friends Robert Korb of Wallingford, CT and Fred Beaudoin of Prospect, CT. He spent many happy times hanging out with friends Kevin and Joyce Riley, Tony Cassella, Paul Massores and several others from Wallingford, CT.
He was predeceased by his father Vincent Joseph Depauw of Braintree, MA , and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Thank you to all the staff of Medical Oncology & Hematology, P.C. at Midstate in Meriden, CT, especially to Dr. Gerard Fumo, D.O., Wendy Holmes, A.P.R.N., and Roseann, R.N.. Also, many thanks to the staff of Diagnostic Hematology Lab at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, CT. You all made the entire process much easier for Joseph.
There will be no services by request of the deceased. Please make contributions in his memory to Wallingford Wishing Well in lieu of flowers. The B. C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford has been entrusted with arrangements.
