Obituary of William J. Dreissen
WALLINGFORD - William J. Dreissen, 85, of Wallingford, beloved husband of the late Claire (Jacek) Dreissen, departed this life on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Masonic Healthcare Center.
Will was born on January 6, 1926 in Sittard, Holland, son of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Loehman) Dreissen. He served in the Dutch Air Force (Navy) from 1946 - 1950.
He worked for 34 years as a general foreman for International Silver Company and retired in 1985. He was a Parishoner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford and a member of the Wallingford Senior Center. Will always was the first to join in a game of cards with family and friends. In his spare time he was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He also enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in Southern California with his daughter and family.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Gary Dreissen and his wife Maria (Carabetta) of Wallingford, and Karen Bilinski and her husband Richard of CA. He also leaves three sisters: Anna Dreissen and Josie Smorenberg both of Holland, and his sister with whom he shared his life locally, Jean Ferry of Wallingford in addition to two sister-in-laws: Ann Jacek of Wallingford and Arlene Bedard of FL. Will also is survived by four beloved grandchildren: Alex, David, and Daniel Dreissen and Kelly Bilinski along with his beloved nieces Shirley and Bob Fleming and Gert and Pierre Sieben, along with numerous extended family and close friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Elle Stoffels, and brothers-in-law Frank Ferry, Robert Jacek, Larry Bedard, Frits Stoffels, Char Smorenberg.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, October 22nd from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford at 12:00 (NOON). Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Will's family would like to extend special thanks to all the staff at Masonicare Rampage 2 and the Masonic ACU Hospice Unit for their wonderful care and concern.
