Obituary of Andrew Leslie Ohr
Andrew L. Ohr, Jr., 87, of Wallingford, departed this life on Sunday, August 21, 2011 in West Newfield, Maine. He was the loving husband of the late M. Christine Ohr.
Andrew was born on August 10, 1924, in Wallingford, CT, a son of the late Andrew L. and Margaret (Law) Ohr.
Andy toured the South Pacific while serving in the US Navy as submariner on the USS Bacunna 319 in WWII. After returning to Wallingford, he began Ohr's Service Station. Upon retiring from the fuel oil business in 1979, he joined his wife in the antique business and later expanded to include his love of watch work.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters and son-in-law: Karin Pyskaty, her husband James and Joan Bravo all of Wallingford; his grandchildren: Katherine Pyskaty, Anna Hladky, her husband Jeffrey, Stephanie Hohenstein, her husband Andrew, Margaret (Meggie) Bravo and Kelly Bravo, his great grandchildren: Andrew (Drew), Hailey and Cooper Hohenstein, Evelyn and Maybeline Hladky; and a brother, William Law Ohr of Yalesville; a cousin, Joan Walters van Beek; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his nephew William Ohr, Jr; sister-in-law Elle Ohr; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Helen Carlson.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 No. Main St., Wallingford from 10:00 - 10:45 AM. A Masonic Service will follow at 10:45 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial at the In Memoriam Cemetery will be private.
