Dear Grandma, You always said "Only the good die young!". Well, you proved yourself wrong about that. You lived a long and full life, and were GOOD. You bestowed love and care upon all of your children, grandchildren, and great-children. We will always keep your memory alive in our hearts, minds and the way we live our life. I love you, Grandma. We love you and will miss you so much. My grandmother was a wise and beloved woman particularly with her brief concise sayings - whether in English or Italian that I now tend to repeat. She also was a wonderful caretaker especially when I was a young child. She would care for me every day in between cleaning and cooking. She taught me many things particularly how to cook - I always loved how she said that I can cook like her own mother Maddalana (who passed away before I was born) especially pasta fagioli. I love you and am confident that you are reunited in heaven with your parents and other family members who have passed. I am proud to share your name. Love, Maria Carmela Chiarelli.

Daily Life When I was a kid I would wake up in the morning and eat the breakfast you prepared for me and put on the clean clothes you had ready for me and then run out the door, just a normal day. Years later at the end of a long day I would call you and say I'm coming over and you would get up to keep me company no matter what time it was, just a normal day. Now I wake up in the morning have my breakfast and call you on the telephone. I ask Ma, how are you feeling today and you reply, Joseph I could be better; I could be worse and I tell you that you sound good. Maybe this is one of the many days I will come and sit with you while you have your lunch or take you with me to run some errands and on the way home we will stop at the cemetery so you can visit your mother and father. It has become too difficult for you to get out of the car so we pull up on the lawn near the graves so you won't have to get out and walk. You will share your stories and sayings and I will say "Ma, do you know how many times you have told me that story? Just a normal day. Now you are gone and I miss being able to share all those moments with you. I try to think of the best memory, the most meaningful moment only to realize that it is all the moments, every phone calls, every ride, every lunch and every one of your stories and sayings. We can't appreciate the moments until they are gone. I will miss the joy of sharing the moments of your life with you. I love you Ma. Joseph
