WALLINGFORD - James P. Totz, 82, of Wallingford, beloved husband of over 60 years to Dorothy (Foucault) Totz, departed this life with family on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Mid-State Medical Center. Jim was born on March 18, 1929 in Wallingford, son of the late Leo and Martha (Wendt) Totz. He was a veteran of U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict as an Ambulance Driver. He retired as a Shears Operator from the Allegany Steel Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time he was an avid bowler and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed farming during his retirement and loved spending time with his grandsons and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his children: Linda Totz DeFrancesco and her husband Joseph of Northford, Michal P. Totz of Newington, and Matthew L. Totz and his wife Patricia of Meriden. He also leaves a sister, Nora Totz Ferrarea of Watertown in addition to his grandchildren: Joseph DeFrancesco III and his wife Ida, Michael and his wife Corine, Darren DeFrancesco and Sue, Alexander DeFrancesco, Nathaniel Totz, Patrick Kay, Andrew L. Totz, and Jeremy Kay. He also leaves his beloved great grandchildren: Bella, Trent, Joseph IV, William, Riley, Rhea, and Leah. He is preceded in death by a sister, Janet Totz Harrington Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 4 - 8 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tansino and all the staff at the Mid-State Cancer Center for the wonderful given to Jim.
