Obituary of David Walter Williams
David W. Williams passed away May 26, 2011 in Hospice of Branford CT. He is survived by his partner /spouse of 22 years, Tim Garrison, his stepson, Nathan Garrison, brothers Richard Williams (Albany, NY), Lawrence Williams (Seaford, NY) and sister Theresa DePinto (Valley Stream, NY), nephews David and Brian Williams and nieces Laura, Emily (Williams), Michelle, Debra and Mary ( DePinto). David was born in Valley Stream, New York and excelled at several careers in his life time, succeeding with accolades in each of his endeavors. As a teacher, David taught biology at Carrigan Middle School in West Haven, CT; holding that position until 1969. David entered the Roman Catholic priesthood in 1979 and studied at The American College in Rome, where he assisted Pope John Paul II with the celebration of Mass on several occasions at St. Peter's Cathedral while attaining a Master's degree in theology. His last parish assignment for the diocese was at St. George Roman Catholic Church in Guilford, CT where he served until 1989. He was employed as a Research Associate at Bayer Research Center in West Haven, CT and conducted pre-clinical medical research. His work resulted in being a co-author on many scientific papers in refereed medical journals before retiring from the BRC upon its closing in 2006.
David's true passions were his gardens and his dogs and he was well known in each of those areas. As a breeder of miniature poodles with his partner, he was consistently ranked in the listings of "top breeder's "of miniature poodle champions in the U.S. As a gardener, David was well known for his eye for design and shared his plant divisions and knowledge with many people. At his request final arrangements will be private. Contributions in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Poodle Club of America Health Foundation, the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation or CT Hospice.
