Ruth J. Chandler , (Johnson, Hale) 93, of Bristol, passed away at the Sheriden Woods Nursing Center in Bristol, on Thursday, May 19, 2011. Formerly of Wallingford, CT, she was the widow of Howard M. Chandler. She was born February 24, 1918, in Hartford, CT, the only daughter of Carl and Hannah Johnson She was a graduate of the Morse School of Business. Until her retirement,she worked as an examiner for the State of CT, Department of Motor Vehicles. She was a member of St Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bristol, and a lifetime member of the Wallingford Fish and Game. Mrs. Chandler is survived by her daughter, Carol (Hale) Janak and her husband Richard C of Bristol, grandchildren, Richard A Janak of Springfield, MA, Robb Janak and his wife Kim of Colebrook. She also leaves step children Joan Preisner of Durham and Kenneth Chandler of Wallingford, grandchildren Lesli Anderson and her husband Scott of Durham, Jay Preisner and his wife Paula of Southington, Beth Corona and her husband Michael of Middletown, and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two special cousins Erik and Carl Swenson of Wethersfield and Hartford. Friends may call at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. A service will be held at the funeral home following calling hours at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
