Obituary of Shirley Fry Ordy Hager
Wallingford. Shirley Fry Ordy Hager of Meriden, has left us after a long battle with cancer on March 8, 2011. She was the wife of Wilbert J. Hager.
Shirley was born in Blooming Valley, PA, July 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Ora Smeltzer Fry Williams and Harry A. Fry Sr.
She was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, Class of '51. Prior to her retirement she was employed at the International Silver Company, also Meriden Wallingford and Memorial Hospitals as a nurses aide, at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in North Haven as an inspector in the airflow department and later as a CNA in Homecare.
Among Shirley's many joys was her love of baking, which has been enjoyed by so many that she often baked for. Her baked goods and famous pies, especially apple, have earned her a special place in the hearts of many friends and family members. She also took great pride and pleasure in her love of crafting and sewing, sharing her creations with friends and family as well as participating in many local craft fairs. Many will remember her for her corn bags, aprons and fleece blankets that were always in demand.
Shirley was a wonderful Wife, Mom, and Gramma, and a dear friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all who have had the pleasure of sharing in her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen P. Smith and husband Jonathan of Surprise AZ, Diane M. Larson and former husband Joseph of Meriden, a step son, William S. Ordy of Brooklyn NY and a step daughter Bonnie Thibodeau and her husband Allan of Wallingford, nine grandchildren, Julie, Jeremy and Jaime Smith, April and Ryan Larson, Kristin Deramous-Nicholaou, Daniel Beaulieu, Jason Thibodeau (Melissa) and Kelly Thibodeau and two great grandchildren, Caitlin and Ryan Nicholaou, three sisters, Leora James and husband Robert, Roberta Bancroft and husband George and Elsamae Bundy, and four brothers, Glen, Charles, Carl and Wayne Fry. She was pre-deceased by her first husband. William C Ordy, a son Patrick A. Ordy and a daughter Judith A Beaulieu, two sisters Harriet Anita Swift and Evelyn Shilling and two brothers Merle and Reverend Harry Fry Jr.
Friends may call at the BC Bailey Funeral Home from 4-7 PM, Friday, March 11, 2011. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10AM in the Chapel of the BC Bailey Funeral Home with Interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden.
