Obituary of James Heilman
James Heilman, 85, of Wallingford, departed this life on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his home in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Powers) Heilman.
James was born on July 21, 1925, in Meriden, CT, a son of the late Norman and Sigrid (Malmquist) Heilman.
Upon graduation from the Choate School he entered the US Air Force where he became a captain and piloted the B-25 during war years. After his military service he returned to Wallingford and joined the family business, Heilman's Bakery. In later years, he worked in the construction trade and lumber sales until his death. He was a master cabinet maker and an avid RC model builder of airplanes. He built a scale model of a B-25 that he flew and it remains on display at the Bradley Air Museum.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary Heilman; his daughters: Judith Lemme (and Anthony) of Wallingford, Kristine Quinn (and John) of Ashville, NC; his son James J. Heilman (and Maureen) of Wallingford, his grandchildren: Keira Treanor, Marisa Woodtke, Ian and Conor Quinn, James E. and Katherine Heilman; great granchildren: Holly, Casey, and Timothy Treanor; and a brother Robert Heilman of Wallingford.
